Miss Sadie

fostered in PA
6yr old fawn female

03/28/03 - Memorial - Sadie

  Back

This is Miss Sadie, who passed away unexpectedly before she could find her forever home. I know she was just a foster baby, but we will miss, how she sat so cutely waiting for us to come in and take care of her. She always had time for a pet and a wiggle before flipping over her food dish and spilling the contents all over the floor. She had a hard life as a breeder, but now she is in a wonderful place. We will miss you, pretty girl. Jim & Gail

Miss Sadie will be buried with our Phebe (1991-2002) in our yard with a memorial plaque: "Always, Sadie - 2003"

03/28/03 - Memorial - Sadie

Through the tears I am writing this update. Sadie died in the kennel today. She was found dead early this afternoon. It must have been a heart attack.

I feel terrible. Miss Sadie was in a kennel because the other rescues were full and the one that had her in her home for 2 days went on a pre scheduled Florida vacation for 2 weeks.  She planned on taking her in when she got back, hence the meeting with our group this week. Sometimes no matter how hard we try its just not enough.  I was to bring her to her foster on Friday. It's so sad she never made it to a home.

Please think of the others still in the kennels.

Miss Sadie is a 6 yr. old female boxer that was taken from an Amish farmer. He took her from another home that got rid of her and relegated her to the barn to breed. She has never been in a home. She is now. She loves it.

She rode well in the car and liked playing out in the yard. It reminded me of born free. It was probably her first time at playing with another dog. She is super affectionate and well bred. How does a dog that came from a Westminster Champion Boxer 3 generations ago, end up in an Amish farmers barn breeding puppy mill dogs? Its a sick world out there.

Thank God we got her now and she can spend the rest of her days relaxing and playing, & getting love. I wonder how long can a dog last like that. This is what we support when we buy a dog from a pet store. We damn dogs like Sadie to misery and loneliness, help Miss Sadie and give her a home for life.

We will have her vetted for the first time in her life. We will have her spayed and treated like a queen. She smells like the cedar chips that was her bed. No more. She is rescued and on her way! She is the best.
