4/30/05 - Cain has been adopted!

4/21/05 - No longer accepting applications.

3/29/05 - Cain has been in his new foster home for several weeks and is doing fabulously. Cain continues to do well with other dogs and loves to play with his rope toy. His new foster mom reports that he can be left home alone with free run of the house and does not need to be crated. He has not had an accident since his arrival. This sweet boxer boy sleeps through the night cuddled with his foster family in bed. He also enjoys an afternoon nap or two sprawled out on the couch with his head on a pillow dreaming of his forever home.

Cain is a friendly guy. Recently his foster family had a get-together and Cain did tremendously. He was showered with lots of attention from the guests and he greeted everyone with boxer wiggles and kisses. He was the hit of the party.

We would prefer a home that has boxer experience and understands the needs of a dog that is deaf.

2/5/05 -  Cain arrived at his foster home 1-29-05. According to his new foster mom and dad, this adorable guy walked into the house like he owned it!  He immediately went upstairs and checked out his accommodations. Obviously, Cain was pleased (especially when he saw the queen size bed  he would be sleeping in that night).

Cain LOVES to be pampered. The second day of his arrival, he received a nice warm bath and had his ears cleaned.  If it weren't for his black nose , you would lose him in the snow...which might explain why, that same day, Cain was fitted with a nice warm blue sweater.

Cain walks well on a leash and likes to stay by your side. He is a true gentlemen. We have noticed that he does not like cats, however, he is living with three birds and they are slowly adjusting to each others presence. For safety, the door or baby gate is always near.

Cain is crate trained and has not had one accident since his arrival. His foster parents are teaching Cain sign language and we are told he is a quick study.

One of Cain's favorite past times is going for a ride in the car. He doesn't care if it is to the corner store and back, as long as he can curl up on the seat and fall asleep with his head on your lap. His second favorite past time is curling up by the fireplace and cuddling with people.   This little boy doesn't need to hear a voice speak, "I love you"... he just needs to see that someone cares.

10/20/04 - Cain is in dire need of a foster home or forever home with a fenced yard. He is currently residing at doggie daycare. We feel that Cain would do GREAT in a home with no other dogs. He loves people. He is extremely affectionate and wags his little nub for attention.

He's a little boy with a big heart and is waiting for someone to take him home. Could that someone be you?

9/15/04 - Cain is a sweet white deaf boxer boy.  This petite 6 year old weighs in at a whopping 51.3 pounds - and looks to be the perfect weight!  He is cute as can be and so far has loved everyone that he has seen!

As soon as I met Cain he was all boxer kisses and wiggles!   Being that he is a bit.... shall we say small in stature - I offered him a "lift" up into my SUV and he happily took it!  Once settled into the crate with a cookie and some pets he laid right down and slept for our almost 3 hour journey!  When we got where we were going I opened the crate and offered to put him down (it can be a big jump!) - but he just looked at me as if to say "I may not be huge - but I'm not tiny - I can do this on my own!!" and down he went.

We went in to see the ladies at the Animal Hospital (where he is staying until we find him a foster home!) and he greeted them with a wiggle and a "love me" look.  The girls started talking to him - telling him how beautiful he is and when I said "he's deaf" they just laughed and said "that's okay we'll still tell him how handsome he is anyway!".

Cain would love a home with a fenced yard (a must with a deaf dog!), and someone to love him - and understand that it will take a different kind of training to get Cain to come when you call - but with patience and some work - he will understand everything you "say" to him.
