Luna Belle has been adopted!!

9/19/05 -

As you know, Luna Belle had an appointment scheduled with the ophthalmologist. Upon the specialist’s examination it was determined that both eyes needed surgery.

We are happy to report that the procedure was a success and for the first time in Luna Belle’s lifetime she can see the world without discomfort. Fortunately, no long-term damage occurred to her cornea and we do not anticipate any problems in the future.

Luna Belle is recovering and LOOKING for her new home with eyes open wide.

7/04/05 -

Luna Belle is a beautiful southern bell who is estimated to be about 2 years old.  Luna Belle was brought to a shelter in New England along with a group of dogs that were shipped to them from a high kill shelter in North Carolina.  The staff at the shelter loved her and thought she was a very special dog.  We agree wholeheartedly!!!

We were called to take Luna when it was discovered that she has a condition called Entropion.  Entropion is the inward rolling of the eyelid.  The eyelashes irritate the surface of the eye (the cornea) and may ultimately cause visual impairment if not corrected.  Luna has an appointment scheduled with a veterinary ophthalmology specialist and will no doubt require surgery.

Below is a report form her foster home:

"When Luna Belle first arrived she was a little tentative and distant at first.  But now......she acts like a puppy. And, yes, like a puppy, Luna occasionally gets into mischief (eg: garbage, shoes, and remote controls must be securely locked away.)

Luna is very sweet - and loves to play, both with people and my other boxer, Sadie -  Sadie was a bit reluctant to accept having a “Two Boxer Home” at first., and we were careful to keep a close eye on them. Sadie is starting to accept that having a sister may be OK after all.

Luna has much to learn in the way of manners and even very basic commands, but she is a LOVE.  It would be impossible not to love her!  She is skin and bones, so I have been feeding her three meals a day. The condition with her eye produces a lot of discharge that I must clean out a few times a day

Luna Belle is such a sweet loving girl and whoever adopts her will be getting a WONDERFUL dog."

Luna Belle is a Name a Boxer dog!
Thank you Teri O'Reilly for naming Luna Belle.

Luna Belle was my little pug she was so special to me.  My license plate says Luna and I had a gift shop named Luna Belle's...she died last Thanksgiving she was only 3 years old, she had hydrocephalus...I miss her so much.  It would be my honor to give the name to one of these precious dogs.
