Update from Tighe's foster mom... 7/17/05 - Update from Tighe's foster mom... Tighe is now weighing in at 68 lbs. but still needs to put more meat on his bones. His eating habits are incredible and he has no food aggression. Tighe will wait patiently for Major to walk away from his bowl so he can finish what scraps are left. It is wonderful to watch how well Tighe plays with Major, however, Tighe can just as easily entertain himself with a toy or a marrow bone. When he is tired, he'll plop down just about anywhere, however, when it's time to retire for the night he sleeps in my bed and does not make a peep till the sun rises! Tighe is a found treasure."
7/6/05 Confiscated by Animal Control A true rescue story…. NBR was contacted for help by an Animal Control officer regarding an extreme case of neglect involving a handsome 18 month old boxer newly named Tighe. Tighe’s family had been cited multiple times in the past by Animal Control for improper care and neglect of an animal, and for disregarding the town’s leash laws. The final warning came with an ultimatum…to either take Tighe to a vet for proper medical treatment or surrender him to the authorities. Luckily for Tighe, they opted to relinquish him to animal control. Tighe’s first stop was to a veterinarian. This badly neglected boxer boy was infested with fleas, had an ear infection, was emaciated, and soaked in urine from being confined to a crate for hours on end. The pictures do not show the extent of his poor condition. Tighe's blood test results showed several abnormal values consistent with an extremely malnourished dog. We will need to recheck his blood levels in the next few weeks to ensure that his blood values return to normal. He can not be neutered until he gains weight. Currently Tighe is being fostered with three dogs, four cats and two kids. Here is the first brief update from Tighe’s foster mom.. Tighe is getting along well with my two female dogs, the new boxer puppy, and my four cats. He loves any attention and especially being fed. We are working on house training and it is successful. Tighe is becoming more comfortable with his new environment. He is having a little trouble with his digestive system but hopefully this will resolve itself soon. I'm looking forward to seeing him with more weight. He is a beautiful boy and very sweet. I will update soon. Tighe is a Name
