Ernie is
a Name a Boxer dog!
Thank you JoAnn Bartoli for naming Ernie. “I would
like to name a boxer in honor of my boxer who we just lost after 14 1/2
years. He was the best dog I have ever known and was truly a cherished
member of my family. I will forever remember him standing on top of my
picnic table, chasing groundhogs and playing with the children. He was
the 'furry love of my life". I hope this dog which we name, brings as
much joy to his future family.”

Ernie is an 8 month old altered male boxer with
stunning white boots and neck that contrast his brindle body. He is
certainly "tres beau". Ernie is living with four cats and four other dogs
and is having the time of his life. His high energy level is well suited
for a family similar to his foster family, complete with a large fenced in
yard and canine playmates.
Ernie is happiest when he is outside racing across
the grass with his friends in tow. He has been pretty well behaved with
the felines in the house. However, given the chance to chase one of them
throughout the house, a game of “tag the cat” would be considered a
perfectly good sport. He is young, exuberant and ready to play. He also
seems to enjoy children, but would be best suited for a family with older
children who are not shy around a bouncing boxer teenager.
We suspect that Ernie may have a hearing deficiency,
therefore a securely fenced yard is a definite requirement. He is very
smart and will be a great partner at obedience classes; he would certainly
benefit from added structure in his life (like all young boxers). He has
taken great strides since coming to his foster home and now feels much
more comfortable when asked to go into his crate. He is starting to learn
how a routine fits into family living and he is going to be a wonderful
addition to an active family.
Ernie weighs about 50 pounds, has soft natural ears
and a medium length cropped tail. He does not seem to mind inspection for
ticks or having his feet touched and manipulated. He does not have food
issues and is eating well. Ernie is a very energetic puppy with eagerness
that is just adorable. Besides his zeal to play, he also loves to cuddle
up on a lap with a good chew toy. Ernie’s hearing deficit has made proper
training a bit more of a challenge, but he has quickly mastered simple
commands such as sit, lay, and wait. He is willing to comply with most
anything for a yummy treat. This cute puppy is eager to learn, and is
waiting to play with and love his new family.
