Lily B has been adopted!

Lily B is doing well in her foster home.  She has really come out of her shell now that she is feeling better.  Lily B was pronounced mite free, her hair has come back, and she is a stunning little girl.  She also had a urinary tract infection that was successfully treated and she was then spayed.  It has been a bumpy road but she is now a happy, healthy, young boxer girl.

Lily B loves to curl up on the couch with her foster siblings.  She even likes to spend time with the cat.  They give each other kisses and often sleep on the couch together. She likes to sleep curled up really close on her foster mommy's arm at night and gives gentle kisses before bed.

Lily B is a wonderful petite little girl who aims to please.  She will eagerly give you a “high five” if she thinks there may be a cookie waiting for her.  She also has learned to sit, lay down, and spin.  Lily B is a great dog, and a snuggle bug, and we all love her very much.

Lily B has come a long way since she came into rescue when she was handed to us in a cardboard box, soaked with her own urine, and covered in sores.  Her foster mom drove for an hour with her on her lap in the dark telling her that everything was going to be alright.  We were determined to keep that promise and we are satisfied that we have indeed.

1/10/06 -

Lily B is an approximately 4 or 5 month old puppy who was found wandering alone and her family could not be found.  We suspect that Lily B’s family did not want to find her and they probably were responsible for her getting “lost”.  The people who found Lily B said they would have liked to keep her but they could not afford to treat her skin condition which was diagnosed as demodetic mange.  This is yet another case of a non-contagious condition that could have been cured quickly if treated when first discovered.

When we brought Lily B to the vet he commented that she was really neglected.  The doctor prescribed oral ivermectin to treat the mange, and started her on antibiotics to treat the accompanying skin infection.  The antibiotics also will help her mild upper respiratory infection.  The vet also detected a slight heart murmur which is not unusual considering her condition.  The murmur could completely disappear once she is feeling better.  She is scheduled to return to the doctor in another week.  Besides the medicine and good nutrition, she is also receiving medicated baths which soothe her skin and help to speed the healing process.  Once the doctor gives the OK she will be spayed.

Lily B is a tiny girl who weighs a little over 20 pounds.  Her tail was docked incredibly long, and her dew claws were not removed; we suspect that Lily B‘s tail was cut by an amateur at “home“.  We are certain that Lily B’s life has not been very pleasant so far, but we are determined to make sure the rest of her life is wonderful.

Lily B is a very shy girl but loves to cuddle and always wants to be with you.  She loves dinner time.  She eats her dry food moistened and, if you put her antibiotic right on top of it, she gobbles it right down.  When you feed her she wags that long tail of hers like a little lamb does when they nurse.  She is going to make a wonderful companion for a lucky someone.

She is oblivious to the cat...couldn't care less.  She is also fine with all of the dogs. We think it would be beneficial for Lily B to have another dog to pal around with in her permanent home.  We are also looking for a home where someone is around most of the time since Lily B is so young; she needs a patient home to help her with her housetraining.
