Norah is a Name a Boxer dog!

Thank you Paul Jordan for naming Norah.

4/4/07 - Norah has been adopted!!

3/28/07 - GOOD NEWS!!!

Norah was examined by the orthopedic specialist at Tufts and he gave us the answer we were praying for..."no surgery".

We are very relieved and pleased to report the doctor’s confidence that Norah’s bowed legs will correct on their own.  The doctor felt that the problem was due to poor nutrition and excessive cage confinement at her young age.  She has been receiving excellent nutrition and unlimited exercise while in her foster home, and she has already improved a hundred fold.

We have scheduled Norah’s spay surgery and, as soon as she recovers, she will be ready to be adopted.

3/7/07 -
SURGERY OR NO SURGERY - THAT IS THE QUESTION

Norah is a very cute, sweet, energetic 16 week old boxer.  We were contacted by the owner of a pet shop who asked if we would take this puppy into our rescue program.  He was told by their vet that the puppy had a problem with her legs and the store did not feel they could sell her.  Her legs are slightly bowed and her muscles were initially quite weak.

So far we have taken Norah to two veterinarians to have her condition evaluated.  Xrays were inconclusive.  The first vet thought that her leg problem could have been caused by poor nutrition and cage confinement and suggested we see how she does after a couple weeks with good food and free exercise.  The second vet was concerned that there may be some involvement with the growth plates in her bones.  Therefore, we have scheduled an appointment with an Orthopedic specialist at Tufts University to see if Norah’s legs will require surgical correction.

Norah is quite a character.  She is very well adjusted and loves to play with dogs and cats daily in her foster home.  She has a keen interest in everything.  She is a big cuddler, enjoys being touched and loves everyone‘s attention.  Norah is a real gem and is going to make some lucky family a great addition.

We will give you an update after Norah’s appointment at Tufts.  Please send a donation to help with her care.
