Just a quick update on Constantine. We will not be placing him in a home with cats

10/2/09: Meet Constantine ...

We received an email from a large, highly crowded kill shelter regarding two boxers who were on death row. T he dogs needed our help ASAP as they were facing imminent death through no fault of their own.  We knew we had to save them.

Two year old Constantine and Petunia were not deemed adoptable by the shelter.  Constantine was dumped by his family at this unfamiliar, stressful shelter because they were moving and he was understandably not coping well.

One of the tests they give dogs to evaluate their behavior is to offer them food and, while they are eating, they take the food away from them with a plastic hand attached to a stick.  He nipped at the plastic hand when they put it in his food dish so they decided not to make him available for adoption.

Constantine has had no issues with the staff.  Overall, they think he is a great dog, and they were happy that we took him into our rescue program.  We will learn more about him once he is in his new foster home.

We would like to give a big “Thank You” to the rescue coordinators at the shelter who went above and beyond to get Constantine and Petunia to safety.  We greatly appreciate the extra effort they gave to get both dogs into our rescue program.
