D.A. is a Name A Boxer dog

Thank you David, Andrea, Scooby and friends for naming D.A.

We had a silent auction charity event (favorite things basket) at Safeco field. The wives of all the players made a basket of the players "favorite things" and in there we put a picture of Scooby  and the "Name a Boxer" application for the winner to fill out.
We paid for the donation but as stated would like the donation to go in the basket winner's name. And as you can see the winner chose to name her boxer after David (LOL).

Thank you for ALL your help!!

"He is adjusting well to being spoiled - toys all over the house. He understands the words "walk" and "ride" and gets excited to hear either one. He loves playing ball in the back yard. He is getting good and sit, down, and come. He thinks he is a lap dog whenever someone sits on the couch. He tries to fit his whole body on their lap - it's kind of funny to watch. Last week we went to the vets and he is now 47 lbs. I did get him a crate and just leave the door open. He actually goes in there by himself to take a nap or sleep. During the morning and afternoon when I am at work, he has free range of the house and has been a good boy so far - no accidents and nothing except his toys chewed. Of course he is not alone that long - 9:30 to 12 in the morning and 1 to 2:30 in the afternoons. Right now he is hanging out on the couch in the sunshine with his leg around his favorite toy."

05/04/11:D.A. Was Rescued From The Depths Of Criminal Neglect

D.A. was an abuse case. This poor 10 month old boy was kept in a cage and was not being fed. At the time he was rescued, D.A. was eight months old and had endured this treatment all his life. The Humane Officer gave “the owners” two options; surrender the dog to Animal Control or face prosecution for animal cruelty. Needless to say, they surrendered D.A. to the Animal Control Officer. D.A. was only 20 pounds when he was confiscated.

When they brought D.A. to the Town kennel, one of the local Police Officers decided to take him home to see if he would fit in with his family. Unfortunately, after some time in their household, the wife felt he had too much energy for their young toddler and they finally made the decision to return him. The Animal Control Officer then contacted NBR for help.

We made the necessary arrangements to have D.A. picked up to be fostered. He is doing “great”. Below is an update from his new foster mom:

"We picked up D.A. this afternoon from the Animal Control Officer. He's a very sweet brindle boxer puppy who was taken from a bad situation. The officer (Jayson) showed us some sad pictures from when D.A. was rescued 2 months ago (8 months old and approximately 20 lbs). A local police officer took him in but that didn't last- the puppy kept jumping up on their 3 year old daughter and knocking her down. Jason took a liking to D.A. and gave him "special treatment" - he stayed in the office with him while he worked. He also treated him to a bath recently.

Our first impression is that D.A. is very friendly and gives lots of kisses and wiggles. However, he seems a little stressed (which is understandable) but loves it when you pay attention to him. He has lots of puppy energy and a hearty appetite. This guy is super cute...non-stop wiggles..

D.A. has received his rabies inoculation, DHPP first vaccination, heartworm test and skin scraping (he has a couple of small bald spots) and he was neutered. He is adjusting well to being spoiled - toys all over the house. He understands the words "walk" and "ride" and gets excited to hear either one. He loves playing ball in the back yard. He is getting good at sit, down, and come. He thinks he is a lap dog whenever someone sits on the couch. He tries to fit his whole body on their lap - it's kind of funny to watch.

I did get him a crate and just leave the door open. He actually goes in there by himself to take a nap or sleep. Of course he is not alone that long - 9:30 to 12 in the morning and 1 to 2:30 in the afternoons.

Right now he is hanging out on the couch in the sunshine with his leg around his favorite toy. He really is a cute little guy."
