10/22/12: Harvey the
perfect boxer is
ADOPTED! :o)
08/08/12: An update from
Harvey's foster mom:
"I thought I would
send a quick update on
our boy Harvey.
He has been doing
amazing. He has hardly
scratched at all! I feel
that his coat is growing
back in nicely. When you
see him again you will
have to be the judge. :)
I have been cleaning his
ears on a daily basis
and the redness is
starting to go away. Ear
cleaning would probably
be last on his list of
'to-do's.' I have been
putting Aquaphor on his
scabs and they are
almost completely gone.
The only one left that
is noticeable is the one
in his ear. The huge
scab is gone and we just
have the 'rough' spot
left, which the Aquaphor
will help take care of
that. The scabs on the
outside of his ear is
practically healed (that
is the Harvey Back
photo).
Harvey
has now officially
become a HUGE fan of car
rides. At first he was a
little unsure about them
however, now - well....
let's just say whenever
I grab my keys he
appears by my side. He
loves to go to the park,
to the bank, or even
just to pick up / drop
off kids. I tested him
to see how he would do
with short periods of
separation (*sigh* no
car ride) and he did
well. Granted, I am only
testing him out at small
intervals each time. He
is also a snuggle bug.
He loves to snuggle on
the couch and in bed. He
loves to give kisses and
just wants to be loved.
He does not jump up onto
any one either -
standing or sitting. The
kids try to get him to
lay on them (yeah, I
know), but he will lay
beside them and refuses
to jump on them.
My daughter has two
new kids that she has
started to babysit for
and they love Harvey
too. Their dad was the
first male that came to
the house that Harvey
was not skittish around.
That gives me faith that
it is only certain types
of men that it takes him
time to warm up to and
others he warms right
up. The kids' dad also
had the same effect on
the kitties. He held
Mozi and Mozi fell
asleep so hard that his
head was hanging over
the end of his hand. So
cute! I also noticed he
is protective of kids
when he is not sure
about people. He stood
in front of my son one
day when a contractor
came out to work on the
roof. He was not going
to leave my son because
he didn't know the
person. It was really
cute. (Harvey also does
that to Duke... when
Duke is trying to move
in for attention Harvey
adjusts himself to
somewhat block Duke.
They have turned it into
a game.) Harvey takes so
well to kids. He loves
women. And men, well, it
all depends on finding
the right man for him.
Oh - and before I
forget - I think Harvey
likes me working from
home. Duke still has his
spot under the desk and
Harvey lays down right
behind me chair. I mean
so close I can't move my
wheels. LOL!
Harvey is a true gem and
so absolutely lovable!"
07/25/12: Harvey is as
great as they come!
Harvey is a amazing
sweet Boxer boy, his
owners contacted us
hoping we could help him
heal from a skin issue
that has been going on
since he was 6 months
old and he is now 4.
They had taken Harvey to
the vet, tried diet
changes, some holistic
remedies and nothing has
helped. Poor Harvey will
itch all night to the
point he is bleeding. He
has very thin hair in
several areas. legs,
chest/neck, head, and
ears. His ears also have
large scabs and need to
be constantly cleaned as
they get gunked up
quickly. They felt awful
and wanted Harvey to
have a chance and being
comfortable and healthy.
Our Montana
volunteer contacted
Harvey's mom immediately
and picked him up on
Sunday. Harvey went to
the vet on Monday and
got a injection to help
with his skin and a
change of diet. He had
his ears cleaned at the
vet and was sent home
with cleanser to
continue every two days.
Harvey will be going to
the vet next week to be
brought up to date on
his shots and for a
follow-up to see if his
skin issues are starting
to progress
nicely.
Harvey is
in a foster home and
they have wonderful
things to say about this
lovely boy, he will make
someone a very lucky
Boxer owner.
