Buddy is out of the kennel and has been in a foster home. Here is their first written update:

“Sorry it took so long to send you an update!  Buddy is doing perfectly in our home- he is a true house dog!  He gets along with my Bloodhound, 2 cats and even our mini lop bunny!

During the day when we are at work, he stays in his crate, at night he sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom and doesn't make a peep- he is actually quite the couch potato! :)

We have had some people coming and going and so far he hasn't met anyone he hasn't liked! While he sounds fierce when people come over, he isn't much of a guard dog since he barks and then goes to find his stuffed toy to bring it to the new visitor! He doesn't jump at all, but does the classic "boxer hop" around the house when he is happy!

I attached a photo of Wilbur and Buddy- it is a funny picture. Buddy looks almost embarrassed to be associated with my silly Bloodhound!

Buddy is an all around great dog! “

2/8/08 - Buddy is in a foster home!  Updates to follow shortly...

8/03/07 -    Foster Home Needed!

Buddy is a two year old male that came into rescue with a broken leg his family could not afford to repair.  He ran off after being hit by a car.  He was discovered two weeks later in a woman’s backyard cowering underneath a boat scared and hurt.   Both bones in his leg had been broken by the impact with the car.  We are all astounded that he survived the trauma and the shock.

His family was contacted after Buddy was found and they took him to the Animal Hospital at Tuft’s University.  Buddy’s injury was evaluated and they were told that Buddy would need surgery to repair the fractures to his radius and ulna bones.  The surgery would be $2500.  The incurring cost was too high so they had a splint put on Buddy’s leg and hoped that he would heal at home.  Upon a follow-up doctor's visit they recommended surgery again and said if they did not make a decision soon that Buddy would lose his leg.

The family could not afford the medical care Buddy needed and called NBR to surrender him.  We immediately took Buddy to an Orthopedic Specialist at Tuft’s and had a complete physical examination.  We were given a good prognosis and we opted to have the necessary surgery.  His surgery was much more complicated since the leg was left untreated for so long, and a metal plate needed to be inserted into the bone.  Buddy was also neutered and updated on his inoculations.

Buddy has mended well and has recovered from his ordeal.  He is a typical playful boxer and eager to please.  Buddy is completely housebroken and has lived with two cats.  We would prefer to place him in an adult home with a fenced yard since he seems to have a tendency to roam.  He needs some manners when walking in his harness.  He loves to ride in the car and/or just hang out and play.

Buddy has a propensity to jump….he actually jumps like he has springs in all four paws.  He does bark initially but is quick to make friends.  If you have the love and time to commit to Buddy, he will shower you with affection and provide lots of entertainment.

Buddy is in desperate need of a foster home. He is currently being boarded in a kennel.

We are also in need of donations to cover Buddy’s expensive surgery.   Whatever you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.
