5/29: Dempsey went home today!! The medication that Dempsey was given has
been working. We decided that because Dempsey was "given to rescue" ONLY because his owners thought his health problems were being caused by an allergy in THEIR home, we would contact them. This was a very happy success story for Dempsey. His owners who adore him, brought him home today, and the medication has made him a happy boy. Dempsey can finally breathe and is with the two people that he loves the most! We are so happy for Dempsey and his "parents"!!!

5/26/00 "Update from Dempsey's foster mom:

Dempsey had some pretty severe asthma attacks the first night he was here. He has been to the vet and diagnosed with allergy induced asthma. He is currently on medication which is working. He is a wonderful dog. Gets along great with my 3 children and 3 dogs. He needs to lose about 10lbs, but we're working on that :)  Dempsey deserves a home that is committed to his health care. He will most likely require medication the rest of his life, although not expensive, it is very important and can not be neglected. Can you give Dempsey the life long commitment that he deserves??"

It is sad to see any dog in rescue but Dempsey's story is a heartbreaker. Dempsey is a fawn male cropped/docked and neutered who will be 2 in July.  His family has titled him as the "Best Dog Alive".  Why do they have to let  the love of their life go?  Sadly, Dempsey is allergic to something in the
 house.  He has been diagnosed with "allergic bronchitis".  His family has  made every effort to keep him but after thousands of dollars in vet bills they are told it is their house that is causing these coughing fits.  He has  not had these coughing episodes anywhere but at their house while source
has left everyone baffled.  He is good with kids, cats and other dogs.  We will see how Dempsey does in foster care to see if he has any more of these episodes.  Because of this condition we would consider Dempsey a special needs dog.  Until we can find the allergen that is causing this he may
have attacks, that are similar to asthma attacks, in the future.  Who ever is lucky enough to make Dempsey a member of their family will not be sorry. Dempsey is one of the luckier dogs, he has only known love and kindness.....Can you give Dempsey the love he has known and deserves?
