Breeder Neglect -
Feb/March
2002
Believe it or not, we now have
a second case of breeder neglect in New Jersey. This case
involves a total of 17 dogs, 13 of which we have taken into
rescue. The remaining 4 are still owned by the breeder. We
believe the owner has intentions of breeding again, as she will
not agree to spay or neuter any of her remaining dogs.
The
breeder was forced to remove the dogs from their property or
turn them over to animal control. The breeder brought the dogs
to a kennel where they have spent the past 7 months of their
lives. The 4 remaining dog are still being housed at the
kennel. They were all very thin and medically untreated until
they were finally released to our rescue and are now on their
way to a better life. We have had all of the dogs examined and
treated by our veterinarians. Many needed extensive treatment.
Of the 13 dogs, 4 were taken by another rescue (thanks Penny and
Sue), 2 are pending adoption from Northeastern Boxer Rescue (Red
and Heidi), 4 are fostered in
Vermont (RC,
Petunia, Amelia 1, and Maggie),
2 are fostered in Pennsylvania (Schnitzel
and Amelia 2) and the remaining one is still at the vet's office
for lack of a foster home and further medical care (Edelweiss).
The staff at the vet's office said she could not be sweeter! We
will keep you posted as we learn more about the dogs.

All of these dogs have proven to be more than just survivors,
but the most lovable dogs imaginable. Please see their pictures
and their descriptions on our
available dogs page and consider taking one of these
beautiful boxers into your home. If you are unable to foster or
adopt, we greatly appreciate any monetary donation that will be
put directly toward the treatment and vet bills of these dogs.
