Get well soon.
Love Babe, Xena, and Luke

Dear Lynne,
We have been reading all of your good wishes given by others on this page, and think it is about time we sent our own. There is no way to describe in words what you have done for others (primarily boxers, but also anyone or anything that needed help). Your selflessness extends far beyond being a boxer foster mom, boxer boarding home, chauffer - to and from the shelters-vets- homes, etc. You are the one that never says no when help is needed. No situation ever intimates you.
Walking each foster dog individually every morning, afternoon and night, no matter rain, nor snow. Week after week cleaning up liquid bowel movements from the starved dog with severe colitus. And most importantly, making sure every dog that went through your home was only to land in the hands of someone that would offer him/her a life up to your standards.
....and for all others....
If you know Lynne, you know there is no one more willing to take the shirt off their back (no matter what the temperature may be) than her. And for those of you who do not know Lynne, it sounds surreal. She is NOT some "wacky dog person", rather she is a warm, grounded, bright individual that somehow got wrapped up with the boxers. The boxers just got lucky...maybe it is their human like emotions that drew Lynne to them. Maybe it is their strength to to keep living....possibly their unforgiving loyalty. Whatever Lynne's reasons, she is someone with a special heart that never looks to be recognized.
Lynne, we who know you well truly recognize your beauty and goodness. Your fight to live through this horrible illness is inspiring. Phoebe, Josh, Kobe, Dexter and I want you to know what a wonderful person we think you are. Your contributions to boxer rescue have shown us how an individual truly can make a difference. There are few that are as special as you.
All our best and love,
Zori, Josh, Phoebe, Kobe and Dexter

And on the 7th day, He rested knowing that He had created the world and knowing that He had placed Lynne in it to love and care for homeless creatures and she would not rest.
Lynne, you give so much to all that come through your doors. You have been an inspiration to me and to all of us. When we're tired, when we think we can't give another piece of our hearts, you're there to remind us all that we can, we must and so we do. Get better soon.

Hi Lynne,
This is a boxer hug from Tess & Robbie Bruno, along with Jackie-we met at Jaime's house for the NBR meeting a little while
back-
if there is anything that will make you feel better, it is thinking about your beautiful crew at home-they are a handsome bunch, & will patiently await your return to cater to their every need ( well, maybe not so patiently- there's nobody like mom ).
You are in our thoughts.
TAKE CARE

NBR's much-loved volunteer Lynne is waging her own war against cancer and at this time desperately needs our help.
Typical of Lynne is her concern about the animals she shares her life with, and right now we need help with
Lynne's 3 cats. Because it is impossible for Lynne to change litter boxes and walk up and down the stairs, it is imperative to adopt these lovely cats out to caring individuals. All of the cats are spayed, healthy and feluk neg. All of them were rescued as babies - some as young as 1 day and none have ever been out of the house.
The cats are:
Fluffy (2 y/o, b/w - semi-feral but loves Lynne and will adjust to a new person);

the sisters, Abby (5 y/o, gray/w)

and Nippers (5 y/o, b/w) -

the sisters can be separated but we would prefer that they stay together.
Lynne has dedicated her entire life to helping homeless animals. We have all come to depend on her kindness, her love for all creatures and her dedication to stop pain and suffering wherever it rears its ugly head. Lynne has been a mentor and educator for all of us and has literally been involved in the rescue and care of thousands of dogs, cats and other homeless and needy animals. Knowing that she must re-home her own animals is not coming easy to Lynne and all of us at NBR feel that this transition must be made as easily and gently as possible, not only for the beautiful animals involved, but for Lynne as well.
If you've adopted a dog from NBR, if you know of a loving, kind friend or family member whose lives would be enhanced by adding one or more of Lynne's cats, please contact us now. And we ask that you remember Lynne and her beloved animals in your hearts and in your prayers.

To Lynne... The Ultimate DOG MOM
Before I was a Dog Mom: I made and ate hot meals unmolested.
I had unstained, unfurred clothes.
I had quiet conversations on the phone.
even if the doorbell rang.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late I got to bed
or if I could get into my bed.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I cleaned my house every day.
I never tripped over toys, stuffed, chewies
or invited the neighbor's dog over to play.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I didn't worry if my plants, cleansers, plastic bags,
toilet paper, soap or deodorant
were poisonous or dangerous.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never been peed on
Pooped on
Drooled on
Chewed on
Or pinched by puppy teeth.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had complete control of
My thoughts
My body and mind.
I slept all night without sharing
the covers or pillow.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop a hurt.
I never knew something so furry and four-legged
could affect my heart so deeply.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never held a sleeping puppy
just because I couldn't put it down.
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was well.
I didn't know how warm it feels inside
to feed a hungry puppy.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never known the warmth
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being
A Dog Mom.

Hi Lynne,
This is Laura in Vermont, not Laura Handy, but Laura hoping to be Rosie's mom, but it doesn't matter who her mom is as long as she is loved. I only spoke to you a few times, but wanted you to know I think you're a strong, wonderful lady and your animal and human family
prove that. My very best wishes to you for a speedy recovery.
Laura Welch
Dear Lynne,
Gosh, dad just told me that you have been sick. I am so sorry to hear that! You do such wonderful things for us Boxer types, and sent Dad and I my wonderful Boxer brother Sam.
Lynne, I just noticed that you are now home, and I am so happy. You spend so much time and effort on our behalf, and there is no way that any of us can properly thank you for all you do. You certainly have won the heart of this Boxer Boy and my dad Mitch too.
Thank you for everything, and please get well soon.
I send you a big wet kiss, and a huge boxer wiggle.
Bill and his dad, Mitch

Dear Aunt Lynne,
Please get well soon!
Love, Charlie and Laura

Having battled cancer myself I know how wonderful it is to have the support of all, especially my love, josie. She was only a puppy when I went thru radiation and I had the help of many family members with her. She was my inspiration to get better. I will keep you in my prayers.

Lynn-
I have no idea who you are, but I do know you must be a very special person. I went onto the web site to get a few idea's for names. (we just brought our Boxer puppy home today) All the get well wishes are so thoughtful and caring I was moved to send my own get well wish. I hope you are feeling better just knowing so many others care about you!
Take care,
~Colleen~
We don't know you but from reading your sight we just had to say THE VERY BEST OF LUCK with your own battle. I'm sure all boxer families know the joy you have helped bring to so many. We hope that you can very soon have some of your own joy when you have defeated this cancer. With hope and woofs .Drew Penny and Scrumpy
Lynne,
I don't believe we have ever met but we share the fight with cancer. I lost both breasts in Dec.2002 and our precious JoJo, the 5 year old boxer we rescued in March, 2003 was diagnosed with lymphoma and fought a courageous battle until August 2003 and we held together as a family for the strength to endure and put ourselves in God's hands to decide our future. May the Blessed Mother, the most powerful Woman in the world, look upon you with favor and may you find the peace you need to get through His plan for you.
I still have hope but nobody gets out of here alive. Take it day by day and make each one special for you and your family. Surround yourself with Boxer Love. You deserve it!!
God Bless You!

Hi Lynne.01/03/04
I don't know you but I visit the NBR site often. I live in Delaware so I also visit the PABoxer rescue site. I have two female boxers of my own right now. Since you are such a large part of the NBR, I can only imagine the kind hearted, strong, willful person you must be....so with that in mind, I know you are giving your war a run for its money. The best part is that you are NOT alone....I can't imagine anyone having more people caring, loving and praying for them than you. So if you ever get down, please remember that!!! GOD has a plan and purpose for us all and yours is with the NBR. I will keep you in my prayers along with my Aunt who is also fighting a war with cancer. My boxers send kisses and wiggles even though they don't know you because that is what boxers do best!!
Donna Jones
Lynne,
Casey (Aretha) sends her prayers for a speedy recovery. I wish I had the words to tell you how much I appreciate your work in helping me adopt Casey. Keep fighting, we need you back.
Jim Sheehan
Dear Lynn:
I follow the rescue sites regularly and have seen the notes to you from families that you have joined together with their furbabies. You must be a very wonderful person - so caring and giving of yourself. I recently rescued our 7th boxer from NJ Boxer Rescue (my husband had a boxer -Jet when he was a younger man) - Duke - and we love him so much. It seems like there are so many boxer babies out there that need to be united with their forever families and you appear to be a very big proponent of that service. I hope you gain strength knowing that people and their families are pulling for you and wishing you blessings like the ones you bestowed on them when you helped out their families to be whole.
Reva Kelly
Mother to: Duke (now) Munchie (my first) Dietrich's Major Mike, Whalen's Mistress Jenny, Miss Valentine and Apollo. Grandmother to Keri Ann and Tootsie.
We had to put Apollo down right before Thanksgiving but Duke came into our lives right after that and we are ever thankful for that. |
