- 10/15/00 - Abby's Foster Mom
writes: Abby has really blossomed since arriving here, she is very friendly
and eager to please. She is truly a strikingly gorgeous dog. She
occasionally still has a peeing accident in the home but they are fewer and
farther in-between and we're working on it. Other than that she is fully
trust worthy in the house she doesn't chew on things or steal things from
the counters or table.
We have a large 5 ft.
fenced in front yard and she has never once tried to jump it. Abby
would do well with another dog companion BUT NO CATS. Abby loves to go
for car rides, and she is crate trained. She has since been
spayed. Who ever adopts Abby will be very happy with her.
- 8/8/00 -
Abigail (Abby) is a beautiful reverse brindle female who is about 11 months
old. Abby was surrendered into rescue by someone who got her from a family that was abusing her. They say she had a cut on her head when they first
picked her up that was caused by the children hitting her.
Abby is understandably a bit timid when she first meets you, but warms up quickly
once she sees that you are friendly. She has the typical Boxer good temperament underneath her initial distrust. She is great with other dogs
and plays like a typical Boxer. Abby will need to live in a home where someone is near her most of the time. She is not housebroken, and will need
a person that can spend lots of time with her.
A securely fenced yard will be mandatory when adopting Abby. She was used to staying alone outside all
day, and learned to jump the 5 foot fence and run away out of boredom. She was good with children in the home despite her treatment by them, but we think it best she be placed with adults or families with older children. She
still needs to be spayed, have her shots updated, and get a heartworm test. She is a great dog and needs a family that will make her forget the harsh
treatment she has learned to expect.
