12/23/04 -  Finally a home for the Holidays!!! I have attached pictures with his new family. Harley is the white boxer (adopted from NBR 3/29/04)  and Si is the mix on the back of the couch...he was a rescue from Donna's local shelter. I love the picture in the backyard with the two running...ahhhhhhh...how sweet it is!

Bowzer has been with us for more than 3 months now and he has become part of the family.  He loves to be covered with a blanket and loves to play with fluffy soft toys.  He is getting along with Harley and Peewee very well.  Bo (Bowzer) Loves to go for his nightly walks.

We are working on controlling his excitement and are getting better every day.  He is a typical teenage dog.  He loves to lay next to us on the couch and is a very loving and loyal companion.  He does well when he and the other two dogs are left alone.   We have not had any chewing or destruction from Bowzer.

Although his sight does seem to be deteriorating it does not slow him down one bit!  Bowzer is truly a terrific dog and deserves a chance.

Bowzer is currently being fostered by a wonderful family. He recently went to an eye specialist for some reoccurring eye problems. Unfortunately, after many tests, the prognosis does not look positive. He has been diagnosed with corneal dystrophy/degeneration.

The doctor feels that Bowzer will eventually lose his sight and  there is no effective treatment that can stop or reverse this. Unfortunately, he is not a candidate for a corneal transplant. We are not sure how quickly this disease will progress.

Because of this, we will be looking to place Bowzer in a home with a fenced in yard.

As an added note, we do not feel that our assessment of Bowzer as pure pitbull is correct. We have been told by many vets that they feel he is part boxer...as we originally suspected.

He is currently residing with two dogs and still no history with cats. He is good boy, loves to play and is affectionate with everyone.

Bowzer has been patiently waiting for his new home for over a year. Will someone please let Bowzer into their hearts so he can see what it is to have a forever home.

This past March I adopted a boxer from NBR named Harley.  At that time I noticed another dog, Bowzer.  I read his story and felt for him terribly.  Over the last few months I would check the Boxer rescue site to see if Bowzer had found a home.  Recently I decided to try to help Bowzer and decided to foster him.

He is such a terrific dog!  Very loving, playful and smart!  I can't believe how much he loves to cuddle with us.  He is adjusting to his new brother Harley and sister Peewee very well.  I can honestly say that whoever adopts him will not be sorry and will have a great companion for life!  I am so happy that I could help him until he finds his permanent home.

Bowzer is still waiting for a foster or his forever home. He has the sweetest disposition and is waiting patiently for someone to give him a chance.

Bowzer needs a fenced yard. Children over 10 years old would be fine. How he would do with cats is unknown.

Bowser is currently being kenneled in MA.

PLEASE, help this sweet boy find his new home.

5/2/04 I received this email today and thought I should share it with the people looking to adopt one of our dogs.
To whom it may concern,

I still see (sadly) that Bowser is still up for adoption.  I am the brother of Bowser's former foster mother.  I can clearly, without a doubt, say that Bowser is the most affectionate dog I have ever met.  He is also an extremely kind, gentle, loving, devoted, and eager to please dog as can be.  It is truly unfortunate that pit bulls get a bad reputation.  If anyone were to meet Bowser, they would realize immediately what a great dog he truly is, and completely forget the stereotypes of that breed (which are WRONG by the way).  While it was sad to see that he couldn't stay with his foster parents, I was under the impression that with his charisma and personality, he would be found within no time.  Unfortunately, however, that hasn't been the case, as I see he is still up for adoption.
I quickly grew attached to Bowser, but unfortunately, I live in an apartment that doesn't allow dogs.  My circumstances at the time do not permit me to move, thus, I can't adopt him.
I strongly encourage that your organization work toward finding Bowser a permanent home, and I would like to contribute toward that end.  I would like to help Bowser find a permanent home, as he is the most deserving dog in my opinion.  I really love that dog!

Sincerely, Matt

Poor Bowser. He is still in a kennel JUST because he is a Pit Bull. Every time someone is interested in this wonderful, trained dog they change their minds as soon as we tell them his breed. This handsome dog is a lot better trained then some of the Boxers we have. His only problem is the raw deal his breed gets from people who don't know how sweet they can be. Bowser has lived with other dogs and is a great companion.

2/23/04 Bowzer

Bowzer is wonderful and he is patiently waiting to be adopted.  Unfortunately the foster home (we thought Bowzer would stay there forever) that has been caring for this sweet boy moved to Colorado, so Bowzer is currently in a boarding kennel.  PLEASE consider Bowzer as your new family member....you won't be sorry. Bowzer is a super dog and deserves a loving family to call his own.  As you can see, he has grown up to be a handsome young man. He is 13 months old, housebroken, and well behaved.

I am now a 6 month old puppy that is having tons of fun, but I really need my own family. For the last few months I have been living with my foster parents and 2 other dogs. I am really good with the older lab but have some problems with the 1 year old boxer that I am living with. Although we absolutely love to play together we usually get too rough and have to be separated. My foster parents think I am good with dogs as long as the other dog is not dominant. I don't think I have ever met a cat before but I definitely love children. I get big bursts of energy all the time but I like to sleep a lot as well. I just love getting cozy with anyone that will cuddle with me and I prefer to sleep in the bed with the humans. I also enjoy going to the beach and running around in the woods too. I am crate trained and don't mind going in for short periods of time when my foster parents both leave the house.

I do need a new home due to the problems with the dominant dog in the home. My foster parents will miss me greatly and said that if I got along with their boxer then they would definitely keep me forever!

If you are as loving and sweet as I am please give me a chance! I am a sweetheart!!
