10/12/03 -

Mookie is really starting to come into his own now. He is very bonded with us, his foster parents, and is never happier than when he's snuggled between us on the bed. It's as if he's beginning to wake up from his long nightmare and figure out who he is.

He is very spunky and full of fun now. He's beginning to learn to play with toys. He's also trying to figure out the difference between stuff he's allowed to have and stuff he isn't. The only way he can find out is by taking some of everything and seeing what happens. We're making progress on basic commands with him. He does want to please, so he'll be very trainable.

He's a very smart boy, and has learned all the routines in our house. He picks things up like lightning. He's a very enthusiastic eater, and has put on lots of weight in the last couple of weeks – we'll find out how much when we go to the vet next. His coat is getting nice and shiny, and in general he's looking very healthy. He's quite a big boy, with long legs that make him look almost gangly. When we take him to the enclosed ball park he just runs and runs, full of boxer joy.

Now that he's learning how to bond, he does need lots and lots of love and attention, and will really need a home where he can get that. He seems to be fine with most dogs, although he seems to take a dislike to one now and then. He's totally loving and wonderful with all people, including kids. He's strong on the leash, but that's mostly because he's having to get used to the noisy, jangly, smell-filled streets of New York City, and it's a lot for him. He's very adaptable, and has been learning things at a huge rate. This is a very special dog, and the family who adopts him will be very lucky.

09/29/03 - Mookie (was Bruiser)

Mookie has settled in beautifully at his foster home and they call him the nicest boy.  He is a big leaner, a typical boxer trait where they lean into your leg when they want to be loved.

He will not get on the couch unless invited, but he is a big couch dog... just loves his couch.  Mookie also enjoys his daily walks through the woods where he enjoys all the smells.  He has successfully passed his cat test.  Mookie went on a home visit and met the three house cats which he just sniffed.  Even when one cat patted his nose with his paw, the Mook just backed off and went on to the rest of the house visit.

He went to the vet and he weighs 64 pounds and can easily gain ten.

Mook is wonderful in the house and has been left free to roam with no problem (according to his foster mom did not move from his favorite couch)  He loves to do his boxer wiggle when you come home.  Even when you're gone just 15 minutes your are still greeted with the same welcome.

If this boy looks like the best match for your home please email me at laurar@together.net

09/17/03 - Bruiser

Bruiser is a two year old male natural eared fawn boxer boy.  He was rescued from a shelter. He is wonderful with other dogs has a sweet loving happy go lucky personality and when you pet him his whole body wiggles. He is good on a leash, is housebroken and enjoys riding in the car a lot.

he is under weight at fifty five pounds could gain ten pounds easy.  He would do best in a home where he will get a lot of love and attention.
