Kasha, who we now call Cassie, is a 9 month old fawn female Boxer.  She is incredibly affectionate and loves all people and dogs.  She has the most charming Boxer wiggle (her whole body wiggles).  She does not need to be crated and just lounges around when left home.  We call her our "Lounging Lady".  We do use a crate for time outs.  Cassie started off in a puppy store slated to be euthanized because of demodectic mange.  NBR took her in and treated her.  She came to me as a foster; I fell in love with her immediately and adopted her.  She was treated for parasites as well and has recovered fully.  Now that she is all right with the world her little alpha personality is emerging and we have come to the sad conclusion that it is not in the best interest of my little Beagle to keep her.  She is a dominant female (as is my Beagle) and should be placed either with a submissive dog or as an only dog.  She plays very well with my submissive male Boxer and my friend's submissive female Wheaten Terrier, but she likes to be top dog in her sweet and charming way.  She loves her treats and must be first in line.  She will steal treats right out of another dog's mouth.  She is a petite and non-threatening pretty girl; our walks are a pleasure with everyone falling in love with her.  She is housebroken and rings a bell hanging on the door when she wants to go out or let's out a bark if I'm upstairs.  She loves lots of activity around her, and will be a welcome addition to someone's family.

4/16/04 - Kasha

Kasha is a 4 month old fawn female with natural ears and a docked tail.  She is having a little bout with demodectic mange.  Demodectic mange is caused by a microscopic mite called Demodex canis.  Dogs raised  by their mothers can possess this mite as mites are transferred from mother to pup.  Puppies raised by hand, do not ever get demodex mites.   When a puppy's  immune system is not developed  the demodex mites can "gain the upper hand;" the mites proliferate and can cause some skin problems.

 Demodectic mange is not contagious.

Kasha is already doing MUCH better!  This little girl loves everybody and everything she meets so far.  She sleeps through the night already and loves to play with other boxers and with people.

Kasha would *REALLY* like to have a home with another pooch and a *fenced* yard!!  Also - since she is *so* young she will need someone who is home most of the time to house train her!
