Gracie has completed her treatment for heartworm and is doing excellent. She is now in the recuperative phase where her exercise is limited to short leash walks for toileting. No permanent health problems are expected as a result of the infection or it's treatment. Once Gracie has completely recovered, and given a clean bill of health by the doctor, she will be spayed.

Gracie is getting along wonderfully with the new puppy in the foster home and "mothers" her quite well. Gracie has made great progress with housetraining and her accidents seem to have disappeared. She is also adapting to the crate. Gracie has not had an easy life; however she has the famous Boxer spirit and is a loving, sweet dog who deserves a great home. She will be a wonderful companion and a delight to have as a part of your family.

12/23/02 - Gracie

Gracie is a white female Boxer found as a stray in Delaware. Her approximate age is 3-4 years old. She is severely underweight but is eating well and already gaining weight. Gracie has natural ears and a docked tail. She appears to have had a litter of puppies in the recent past. She has a wonderful disposition and aside from a few minor altercations over food is getting along well with my 7 year old neutered male. She very loving and will undoubtedly made a devoted companion.

Gracie walks fairly well on the leash but is having a few accidents in the house if not caught in time. She has made great progress in the area even in the short time she has been here. She tolerated a bath well but she was not enthusiastic. She does not know how to play with her toys yet but is becoming more playful as each day passes. We are working on some basic obedience commands and she will certainly be a quick study judging from the progress she has made so far.

Gracie is heart worm positive and will be receiving treatment after she gains a little weight. She is up to date on her immunizations. She has also received medication for intestinal parasites. Once her more pressing health issues have been addressed she will be spayed, and then she will be in good shape and ready to go.

Gracie has not had an easy life before coming into rescue and she deserves the best home possible. Having been a stray with no known history we will only place her in a home with older children. She also needs a home where someone is home for most of the day or will take her to work since she really doesn't like being crated (and cannot yet be trusted in the house alone).
