12/15/02 - Update

Ricky deserves to be home for the Holidays...

One of the technicians at the animal hospital where Ricky is staying took him home overnight. Ricky went to an apartment in NYC. He was a well behaved gentleman. No begging at the table, walked great on the streets, and slept next to them while they watched TV.

Ricky will make someone a great companion. Can you open your home for him?

12/06/02 - Update and New Pics

Ricky is finally healed.  Some of his skin graft did not hold so his wound took a long time to heal. He is now ready to leave us. Most of his hair has already grown back and he is looking handsome.

The staff at the hospital will miss him. He has become a part of everyone's day. Even the clients have come to know him (he spends his day with the receptionists).

Ricky is extremely well behaved. He plays when you want him to but if the time has come to stop he will take your command and go to his bed to lie down. He is such an easy dog to have around! We can not place Ricky with children since we do not know his history.

If you are interested in giving this great guy a new start please email the contact below.

10/07/02 -

Ricky is a sad story.

His owner no longer wanted him and brought him to a shelter. The shelter would not give him to rescue. They wanted to keep him for 6 weeks. If they could not place him after 6 weeks we could have him.
Fast forward 6 weeks and Ricky was sent to their vet for a small tumor removal on his shoulder (they felt that was why no one wanted him). After surgery he was sent back to the shelter. Infection set in. The surgical site broke down and destroyed tissue around the incision. The shelter told the vet to euthanize Ricky.

Rescue stepped in. Ricky was sent to Meadow Veterinary Hospital. There he was operated on again. They had to do a large skin graft to close the infected wound.

It is two weeks later and Ricky is doing well. This poor sweet boy has been through so much. We need to find a loving home for him.

Ricky is about 5 years old, sweet, and housebroken.
