"Billy"
This dog has been adopted but has not yet completed the two week "trial period" in it's new home. Should the placement prove to be a poor fit for dog and/or family, he/she will be moved to the AVAILABLE section on the Available Dogs page.
10/28/01 - Billy is still looking for his forever home. He has been in his foster home since July and can no longer stay there (but thank you RR for giving Billy all that time with you!). He is now staying at the kennel because we have no other foster homes without other dogs. He is a hard placement for us due to his inability to get along with other dogs, but if you have no other dogs you should truly consider taking Billy in to your home. He can not go to a home with small children because we have never had him living with kids (13 and older only please). We have never had Billy around cats either, so we must rule that option out too.
8/28/01 - Billy is a handsome, youthful 7-year-old male boxer who was suffering from kennel cough, underfeeding, and lack of soft bedding when rescued from the pound in Brooklyn, New York. Now in foster care, Billy's physical health is restored, although he still needs to gain more weight. And he's dying. . . of boredom. Cooped up in my tiny studio apartment, he desperately needs to romp and play in a nice yard.
Billy is housebroken, nondestructive, friendly and loving to men, women, and children, and apparently has been trained to stay off furniture (when
invited to get on the bed, he steadfastly refuses). With other dogs, Billy
has shown some aggression, which may lessen to some degree after hešs
neutered. Still, a single-dog home would probably be best for him. When
visitors come to my apartment, he gets overexcited; lots of boxer enthusiasm, and over zealousness. Overall, his behavior at home has been excellent: minimal barking; loves companionship and can deal with being alone for a few hours; no need for crating. He would do best as an only dog, we do not know how he would be with cats, and no small children. As he shows no aggression toward children- actually quite the opposite, he get too excited and will easily knock them over. Once inside and settled with visitors, Billy relaxes and finds his comfy spot.
