"Damon"

This dog has been adopted but has not yet completed the two week "trial period" in it's new home. We are no long accepting applications or inquiries. Should the placement prove to be a poor fit for dog and/or family, he/she will be moved to the AVAILABLE section on the Available Dogs page.

• 7/11/01 - Damon is in desperate need of a kind soul to restore his confidence in the human race. He has spent the last 2 months locked in a house – all alone. Sure, someone came to let him out and feed him a couple of times a day – on a good day. But interaction was very limited and he spent most of his time sitting and wondering where his family had gone. He had been with them since puppyhood and they were the only humans he knew. Damon was left in this situation due to a divorce and foreclosure on the house. Not one family member came forward to take responsibility for this guy – they just left him there – 9 years old and all alone.

  A caring Nun finally called us and we agreed to take Damon into rescue. Checking into his background we learned that he had not been to the vet since he was a pup! They updated the vaccinations prior to rescue picking Damon up. He is not yet neutered but will when he is ready for another major stressful situation.

  Damon needs a quiet, compassionate household to rest and recover from his ordeal. He is completely stressed out due to the neglect of the past several months (years?) and needs time to rest and relax. The perfect foster home for Damon would be a low activity household that would allow Damon to “rejoin the living” without being pushed or put in stressful situations. His current living situation cannot provide this quiet atmosphere for him. Another dog in the home would be fine as Damon has lived peacefully with a male Doberman in the past and has gotten along fine with an older female boxer in his temporary foster home. Damon is completely housebroken and totally non-destructive when left alone.
