Follow Up: Jake (was Beautiful Sammy)

12/2002:

Happily Ever After - Over one year later

How do I begin to tell you about the greatest dog
ever. In August of 2001 our beloved Boxer Lex died. I never thought I would want another dog again, but my husband Jerome, found the BoxerRescue.com website and would search often telling me about this dog and that dog. He saw the story about Beautiful Sammy and we were very intrigued about him and decided that this might be the dog for us. Although Beautiful Sammy was living on Long Island, NY we decided to make the 3 hour trip September 9 2001 anyway.

Beautiful Sammy, as his new foster home named him was a stray for many months. One look at this dog we knew it was love at first sight. We took him home to Pennsylvania and renamed him Jake.

How can I tell you what a great dog he has become. We fed him special food and gave him as much love as possible. He was very apprehensive about other people at first but now he is the beloved pet of the neighborhood. Jake has his own Fan Club (children from the neighborhood) and on the anniversary of his adoption we gave him a party and invited them.

Let me tell you that Jake wants to be everywhere you are and learned to give dog hugs shortly after we adopted him. His coat is a beautiful red color and he loves running around the yard.

Somehow he seems to know when you are sad or troubled and is always there for you. He has become so attached to us that when either of us goes on a trip he sits by the front door awaiting our arrival.

Would I adopt another boxer YOU BET.

02/13/02:

Thanx for thinking of Jake -He is our special boy, so full of love, and so happy and content to be living a retired relaxing life in his own private domain. We procured an LL Bean blanket with his name embroidered on it. He loves his spot on the sofa near the front door. Jake has gained over 5 lbs since we got him from you and is the most precious thing on earth. It brings a smile to my face whenever I see his head on the sofa arm anticipating Bonnie's arrival.

He has developed some digestive problems, but we are accustomed to the Boxer's predisposition to those types of problems. We love him like a son. He is finally warming up to people and his coat is beautiful.  Tell all concerned that "SAMMY"/"JAKE" is living the "Life of Riley". He couldn't be happier!!

Happy new year to your both, bonnie and jerry

12/2001:

hi! i'm writing to update you on the story of Sammy

Sandy, we renamed Sammy, Jake and he is doing extremely well. He seems to have grown not only in stature but girth. In the beginning he was not very  receptive to people but we had a party last week and he was just wonderful.  He is the most amazing dog. We love him soOOOOOOOOOO! much. I wish you a  happy holiday and a great new year. As soon as I can get a digital camera  I will send you photos of our most wonderful pet JAKE.

There is no doubt that JAKE is in his forever home with us and I know he feels the same. The greeting (me Bonnie) he awaits my return every day so he can get fed his second meal. Jake is a totally different dog then when we got him and he is just a joy. We are so happy to be Jakes parents
