12/13/02: Hi, this is Bean.
I just had to write and let all you other pups know that I'm doing pretty good. I found some people here on Cape Cod that were pretty easy to train. My human Mom was the easiest to train, (I think she's had training before) She feeds us and gives me baths, takes us for long walks, rides in the car and my favorite.....throws balls and frisbees for me. I heard her say the other day that her throwing arm hasn't been this strong since her softball days back in high school.
On the mornings when my human Dad gets up at 5:00am we jump up on the "big bed" and sleep with my Mom for the rest of the morning, I'm not sure who looks forward to this more, us fur kids or my Mom! See my Dad still needs a little more training...he thinks that the "big bed" is just for humans but we're slowly getting him trained. He could probably benefit from a couple weeks at obedience training. ;-)
I keep making reference to "WE" and I haven't explained why yet.....I have a girlfriend here and she is just the greatest, I love her, love her, love her.
We sleep together, we eat together, we play together. We have never had a nasty word between us, even when my human Mom buys a couple of super tasty treats and my girl Rocky lets me chew on one for a minute or two and then comes and takes it away!! Does she think she is the bone police or what? Of course she didn't take that roll of paper towels away from me that day when I tried to find out how many pieces can be made out of a whole roll and when my Mom saw it she said "oh Beannnnn" in that certain tone of voice and I knew I had to wag my tail and look as cute as possible real quick. Anyway my girl Rocky has taught me all kinds of tricks, like when we are playing we are supposed to chew on each others back legs, she used to do it to me and it wasn't much fun but now I know how to do it to her and now I enjoy it too.
Of course it isn't all just fun and games here, "we know kibble doesn't grow on trees" so we chip in with housework, we love to vacuum, we keep the waterbed warm, we guard the couch and even do some laundry occasionally. I sent along some pictures to prove it.... I'm working my tail off here!
I do have one complaint here though, I don't seem to be able to jump as high as I used to...the gravitational pull is apparently greater here than other places I've been. My Mom says it's because I'm now a healthy 60 pounds as opposed to the 48 pounds I once was. Mom says I'm a big happy, healthy, handsome boy and she loves me very much.
Love, Bean

Story:
Me and my mom rescued a dog that was a boxer named Bean. Bean likes to chase balls and chew things. Bean also likes to run around. But Bean can be a
really cute dog. I'm really glad that Bean lives with us.
