Follow Up: Corky (now Spirit)

Thank-You to Northeastern Boxer Rescue and my favorite sister Lynn.

I am an owner of a ten year old geriatric Great Dane and was interested in adding another dog so my home wouldn't be so lonely when the time comes for my Dane to go to "Doggie Heaven". My sister Lynn had turned me on to the Boxer Rescue site. She already owned one boxer and had recently adopted another through Boxer Rescue (his name is Bean). I had done a lot of research on the type of dog that would be perfect for my family and thought that a Boxer sounded perfect. I have a five year old daughter and just any dog wouldn't do.

I went on the Boxer Rescue website and started reading all the stories. When I happened upon the picture and story of "Corky". Being a nurse, I instantly felt for him. I was very touched and fell in love with him that very moment.

The first week of February I was finally able to adopt him. He has been the perfect addition to our family. He gets along great with everyone. He loves to play with his cat brother and share all his mouse toys. He sleeps with my daughter Hannah every night (they both seem to enjoy this thoroughly). He is recovering from his knee surgeries so he has to be limited in his activities.

He especially loves going over to his cousin Bean's house for hours of fun playing with him. It is almost like they have a special bond knowing where they came from and that they got adopted into the same family...It has been a godsend.

A word from Spirit: My name is no longer Corky. It is now Spirit. My foster mom (Lisa in N.Y.) named me that instead and my adopted Mom thought it was perfect for me and we kept it...I have been improving my eating skills also. thanks to canidae dog food. It is the best! I have gained a whole 2.5 lbs.
