In Loving Memory of Maxwell
|
Maxwell, Maxie baby, my Buka boy…I loved you with all of my heart. You were scared of people and didn’t know how to react, but you trusted me and I trusted you. I will always remember our cuddle time on the couch, afternoon naps with you and Mandy – kisses at the door, running in the yard, splashing in the pool, puppy hugs and wiggles, your gentleness when Mandy was ill, your playfulness when she was well, your protectiveness, your loyalty, all the love you had to give. You, Maxie, were a special boy – you are the reason I will continue to work in rescue. Not everyone understood you – but that doesn’t matter – I did, and I know you understood me. I miss you baby, – you were one of the greats! Maxwell passed away with his head in my lap on the way to the vets office. The home Maxwell lived in before returning to rescue gave him rawhide bones nightly, because they were one of his favorite treats. Unfortunately they were not aware of the dangers of rawhide. Maxwell had swallowed a large piece of rawhide and it became lodged in his intestines. By the time I learned this, and brought him to the vet – it was too late. My baby boy was gone. I will miss Maxwell forever – he was truly a wonderful boxer – with lots of love to give. Please read the rawhide warning below – and keep this in mind the next time you, or someone you know give a dog a rawhide chew. |
