"Jake"

This dog has been adopted but has not yet completed the two week "trial period" in it's new home. We are no long accepting applications or inquiries. Should the placement prove to be a poor fit for dog and/or family, he/she will be moved to the AVAILABLE section on the Available Dogs page.

• 6/15/01 - Jake arrived at his temporary foster home last night. What a

  good boy he is! He likes the other dogs and ignores the cats and

  parrots. He is submissive with both people and other animals - it's

  obvious that he has not always been treated like the gem he is. All he

  wants is to be close to someone but he is not at all demanding.

  Jake slept in a crate without a whimper and has made no "mistakes" in

  the house. We have yet to hear him bark. He walks like a charm on

  leash and was very well behaved when taken to the vet hospital for his

  neuter today. He weighed in at 61 pounds and is very ribby. He will

  probably fill out to at least 75 pounds.

  This is one sweet boy that needs lots and lots of love - please contact

• 6/13/01 - Jake is a 2 year old +/- white hearing male that came to us

  from a vet's hospital that boards and adopts strays. Jake had come to

  them as a stray and they had been unable to find either his owner or a

  new home. Due to the abundance of strays coming in - Jake had been

  scheduled for euthanasia on several occasions but each time the hospital

  staff found room to squeeze him in - you see, they had fallen in love

  with this sweet boy! Finally, one of our volunteers learned of Jake's

  plight and he is now safe in rescue.

   

  Jake seems to like all people and really thinks of himself as a lapdog!

  Our volunteer said she felt instantly comfortable with him when she went

  to visit. He knows the commands sit and shake and just wants someone to

  love and cuddle him. He had been allowed to interact with other dogs at

  the hospital and got along fine with those he met. His neutering is

  scheduled for friday and he will be ready for his forever home by the

  weekend. We will update this information as we get to know Jake better.
