7/08/02 - Jethro is a 16 week old, brindle, male puppy who is obviously not a boxer, but he is nonetheless cute. An animal shelter scheduled him for euthanasia because he came down with kennel cough. One of our volunteers has a fondness for brindle mixed breeds and did not want to let him die....we certainly agree he deserves a chance at life.

Jethro will probably be a big boy when he matures judging from the size of his paws. He is super sweet, and has the type of demeanor that all dogs and cats seem to like. Your guess is as good as ours as to what the breeds are in his background, but we suspect German Shepherd and possibly Great Dane. No matter what his heritage, he will no doubt become a treasure to the family that adopts him. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  Since Jethro is a puppy we would like to place him in a home where someone will be with him more often then not so he can get lots of attention. Puppies are like babies, and they need the same amount of time, training, love, and patience!

Foster home update:
Jethro was very sick when we first brought him home and would not eat anything that we offered him, but we are happy to report that Jethro is eating. YEAH!  He is now eating and drinking somewhat regular meals. Jethro is a wonderful puppy, and he is well on his way to being house trained.  He knows that the "dog yard" is the place to go "potty." We just need to figure out when he needs to go there. Jethro LOVES our female boxer, who is teaching him to play like a boxer, and how to unstuff woobies. He thinks this is all great fun!  I think he would do best in a family with another dog, as he really seems to enjoy his time with our boxer.  He also likes to fall asleep in our laps, and rest his face in our hands.  Jethro will make a wonderful addition to the right family!
