"Major"
This dog has been adopted but has not yet completed the two week "trial period" in it's new home. Should the placement prove to be a poor fit for dog and/or family, he/she will be moved to the AVAILABLE section on the Available Dogs page.
Major went to the vet everything went well. He is in good health, is up-to-date on his shots and the vet said his only concern is that he is slightly under weight (at 56.7 pounds). As I told the vet, he's eating better and better as he gets situated so the my vet saw no need for worry."
4/18/01 - Major's Foster Mom writes: "I did come to find out why Major pee's when company comes over or in his crate. We normally don't talk to our dogs as they are coming out of their crates, but when you do talk to Major or when company comes and talks directly to him - he pee's. He's fine when no one talks to him, that's the experience we have had. He's truly a great dog and would make a wonderful addition to any household. He even gets along with my dog now - just doesn't really know how to play, only how to dominate."
4/12/01 - Major is in a foster home! His
Foster Mom writes "He
is an incredibly sweet dog. Very affectionate and loving. He
is crate-trained very well - goes in without even asking. Sits calmly
when in his crate. Once he's out of his crate, he's energetic, but it
doesn't take much time for him to settle down and get comfortable. He's got
typical Boxer-energy, but it certainly isn't overwhelming. Unfortunately, he
does not get along with our dog. He would probably be best suited in a
home where he is an only dog as well as no cats. He knows some basic commands
and is very eager to learn - loves those treats! He may be a bit
possessive of toys as he gave growl when I reached for a toy he had. He doesn't
bark when the doorbell rings and so far, we haven't had any problem with wetting in
the crate (over excitement) or wetting when people come over. As I said
before, he's very affectionate and loves human contact."
3/28/01 - Major's Owners write "Major is a fawn 18 month old, his ears are not cropped but his tail is docked. He is neutered and is up to date with his shots. I don't know if he would get along with cats or other dogs because he has not been around them. He loves the kids, He lives with two (a 3yr and 8 month old ) His daily routine is not much he is in a cage for the majority of the day, with us working and having the kids to watch we do not let him out of the cage a lot when we are home.
Its not fair to him how he is living. If we have company he gets so excited he pees. When we let him out of the cage he will run on the furniture jump on you, it will take a little while to calm down. I am sure this is because he is not out of the cage much. I am sure with the right home he will do fine. Major is really just A BIG PUPPY.. He needs someone that can put in the time needed to show major how life SHOULD BE.
He knows some commands (sit, down (he lays down) off (when he is on something) stay (he is so good at). Major despite everything is capable of being a really good dog if someone will take the time out and work with him. I think who ever he lives with is going to have to have a lot of patience and time for him.. If someone gives him the attention he needs and works with him he would really be a great, loveable and calm dog.
