4
yr old fawn female

Adopted 11/21/02

10/16/02 - Rosie is still here! How can anybody overlook this beautiful girl?

She is as sweet as can be, but she needs to be in a home where she can receive all the love and attention that she deserves. She has been boarded here for several months and is warm & comfortable, but that just isn't enough. She needs to be with a family so that she has the opportunity to continue to bloom into the loving pet she desperately wants to be.

3/19/02 - About Rosie:  I have never fostered a rescue that was so deprived of socialization. On the first day I was extremely concerned that she could not be rehabilitated. She was so terribly fearful, not aggressive but so so afraid. Bless her heart, she must have never left the farm. She had been tied in the barn with mules. There's no doubt that she was merely livestock and never experienced any genuine gestures of affection. She didn't understand when we tried to hug her. The first day, we couldn't get her to wag her tail, AT ALL!! The second day, I took her to the
vet for check up, shots etc. As soon as we walked into the waiting room & her feet hit the vinyl flooring, she was like a deer on ice. She thought she was going to fall down. She curled her toes & tried to gain traction. BUT!! By the time we left there, (thanks to all the staff that fussed over her)
she was doing the Boxer wiggle. She has a true Boxer spirit. It has taken her a while to realize that when we reach for her, that it isn't to hit her.  She just loves to bury her head under your armpit and snuggle in. I am so happy with the progress she has made. She really is going to make it. On the downside, if there is one, she is finally comfortable with her life and has become a bit of a wild child. I'm a sucker and haven't really tried to enforce any rules with her as yet. She is completely at home on whatever piece of furniture that strikes her fancy. If you call her, she'll come (if there's a piece of steak involved). She was totally un-housebroken when she arrived. She now has a clue, but not a firm grasp. She needs work yet, to become all that I know she can be. I'm no longer concerned about her future though, I know it's going to be good.

2/26/02 - Rosie is really coming out of her shell. She wags her tail when greeted. She still jumps away if you try to hug her too much, but she wants to like it. She just doesn't understand it. She doesn't jump up on you. You can just tell she's been clobbered at least a few times. She keeps forgetting that we aren't going to hit her when we reach for her head. But that's getting better. She doesn't shy away as much.

2/11/02 - Rosie is a 4 yr old female that was saved from breeding at an Amish farm.  A concerned person answered an ad in the paper advertising her for sale.  The farmer didn't want her anymore because she wasn't taken care of her pups. She made it off the farm, along with her daughter, and into rescue.  She's very afraid right now because she has spent all of her life tied in a barn.  We would like to see Rosie in a home with no children or other animals that can help her adjust to life as a pet.  Please consider this beautiful girl and give her the loving home she deserves.
