UPDATE
4/01/02 - Roxy has tested positive for heartworm disease, and she will need surgery to remove and biopsy a mammary tumor. She is in need of a warm, caring, quiet foster home to nurse her through this rough time. We will post information as we know more. Consider opening your home to this gentle dog while we attend to her current medical needs at our expense. What Roxy needs now most is a loving home to shelter and comfort her as she recovers.
3/29/02 - Roxy is a mature (approximately 8 year old), fawn, spayed, female boxer with natural ears and a docked tail. A smaller dog, she weighs 45 pounds. She had been abandoned at an animal shelter, so we do not know her history. She appears to have been a well cared for and well loved family pet.
Roxy is housebroken, affectionate, and very polite. She's an easy dog to live with, but she will not tolerate confinement in a crate or behind a baby gate. Left loose, she is clean and causes no damage. Nor is she demanding. She simply gets worried if she is locked up.
Roxy sits and downs when asked. She will even give her paw... and then her other paw. She is easy to walk on a leash. She has made no attempt to jump on people, but she will lean up against you for a much-appreciated butt-rub. Roxy greets everyone with a wiggle. She could take or leave other dogs. She's happy to greet them and then pay no attention to them.
She doesn't mind being picked up, bathed, or being handled in any way. She has shown no fear or resentment towards anything, in fact. She is not food-possessive, and she does not pester people who are eating. This dog is the epitome of a stable, gentle, affectionate pet.
Roxy's coat is a gloriously rich red-fawn color. Her teeth look great, and she is active and playful. She especially enjoys stuffed toys that she can toss in the air and pounce on. She has a few lumps that the veterinarian will need to examine more closely.
