Shirley is now "Mandy" and her new Mom writes: "Hi there!
It's been a while since I've sent you an update on how my little girl is
doing so I thought I would drop a line. Well she has been an absolute joy
for us since the moment she got here. She weighs in at a healthy 46 pounds
now and she it absolutely gorgeous. We go for walks all the time and she
loves to play in the leaves with my fiancé. She also loves to play
tug of war with her rope toy (and her leash!)...We're trying to teach her to
play fetch, but so far she just chases the ball and then leaves it where it
is and runs back to us.
Mandy get lots of love and cuddles every night, and during the day we have
play dates with other boxers that we have met. Well that's about all I've
attached some pictures so that you can see how wonderful she looks. I would
also just like to say thank you very much for setting me up with this little
angle. Our lives are so much fuller and happier now that we have her!!

Foster home update: "I have been calling "Shirley" Mandy, and she seems to be starting to respond. I brought her in to my
work today and she is 29 pounds, has pretty definitely been pregnant before, and Dr. Fisher thinks she
probably closer to three than to one. Also she has dry skin (not a big surprise) but there are signs that she
probably had mange before, also she has a scar on her cornea, none of this is a big deal though.
She is such and doll and the whole house has fallen in love with her, not to mention all the people at work..."

Foster home update: "Just thought I would let you know how this sweet little girl is doing. She is just craving attention right now,
she follows me around everywhere!! She does NOT like being crated at all, and is fine in the house when
left alone for short times. She is house trained and has woken me up the last two nights to go out to use
the bathroom. So far she isn't bagging for food or jumping up onto furniture. I brought her to work were she
met our cat and she was fine with him, pretty much she just ignored
him. At night when we watch TV I sit on the floor and she curls up on my lap and nuzzles her little head in my stomach until she falls asleep.

6/4/00 - Shirley
was picked up as a stray in New Jersey several weeks ago. She is a
petite brindle girl with natural ears and a long tail. The shelter
estimates her age at 1-2 years old. We have had her spayed,
vaccinated, heartworm tested and is on preventative.
Shirley is very friendly and active. She gets along great with other
dogs. Because she is a former stray with an unknown background, she is
not available for adoption to a family with small children.
Shirley and Laverne met at the shelter where they shared a run.
Ideally, we would like to place them together - but this is not a
requirement.
