Simon also has severe separation anxiety (that he eventually may or may not get over) if left alone. However he is a wonderful dog when people are around...friendly, sweet, and loving. He has been taking a medication called Clomicalm for the last month to try to help him with his anxiety, but he has shown only minor improvement so far.
The behaviorist that worked with him suggested that Simon be placed in a home where he is not left alone. She said his new family will have to accept that if they do leave him he will urinate and defecate, but on the bright side he does not chew things. He also needs a fenced yard, and would do best in a home with another dog. He is a high energy dog, and would do fine with older children. He is very sharp on his obedience training, and he has learned to sit, lay down, gives you his paw, and plays dead on command.
Simon's current family adopted him from a shelter 3 months ago where his original family left him due to a divorce. They have tried very hard to make the adoption work, and they desperately wish that they could keep him. Unfortunately they are gone during the day and can not provide the constant company that Simon requires.
