"Toby"

This dog has been adopted but has not yet completed the two week "trial period" in it's new home. We are no long accepting applications or inquiries. Should the placement prove to be a poor fit for dog and/or family, he/she will be moved to the AVAILABLE section on the Available Dogs page.

• 7/20/01 - Toby was neutered on 7/13 and is recovering very well. The vet that performed the surgery estimated his age to be between 2 & 3 years old.  After taking a few "road trips" with his foster brothers and sisters,  Toby is really enjoying car rides. He has also improved dramatically with walking on a leash. Toby is a quick learner and really wants to please!

   

• 7/10/01 - Toby is a handsome 1-2 year old male boxer that came to us from a shelter where he was picked up as a stray. He is completely white except for a couple of small fawn spots on his head and neck. He has one blue eye and one brown eye! 

   

  Toby gets along great with all of the dogs at his foster home. He is very respectful when they tell him they've had enough of his rough play! There are no food or toy issues with this guy! He has no problem with people or other dogs taking things away from him. We have not had him around cats yet and we have no idea how he would be with them. Toby loves people and likes a good back rub. He seldom jumps on people except maybe in the middle of a game of fetch. As we have no background info on him - he cannot go to a home with small children.

   

  Toby is crate trained, goes into the crate willingly and does not make a peep while in there! He seems to be completely housebroke as he has had NO accidents while with us! This has earned him the privilege of sleeping loose in the bedroom with the rest of his foster family. He knows the command "sit" very well and complies promptly when told to - "stay" is a different story :) 

   

  Riding in the car is something alien to Toby - he gets nervous and cannot settle down. We hope in time he will learn to enjoy riding in the car as most boxers do. Although relatively calm for his age, Toby is VERY strong on leash and will benefit from training in this area. He is on the small side for a male boxer - he currently weighs 60 pounds but could use a few more.
