Yancy

ADOPTED 2/23/02

2/11/02 -  Yancy has spent the day with his new friend Skippy.  They shared a food dish, and played all day outside in the yard after Skippy got his bath. They are sharing a kennel now.  See, everybody needs somebody.  So if he could get a home with a friendly little buddy, he could have a seeing eye dog.

1/19/02 - Please help Yancy.  He is a gem of a dog. He is so sweet and gentle and deserves a great home or foster after all that he has gone through. He is in a great kennel but a kennel nonetheless. Gail that owns the kennel is so sad that we cannot find a place for him. He has gone through so much. He is such a great dog. Please open your hearts and help him. He will give you nothing but love.

1/16/02 - Yancy  desperately needs a family.  He has spent 4 years in a cage, and is slowly learning what it's like to be able to walk around.  He is sleeping on a warm soft pad provided by a caring lady, plus a big soft quilt.  He likes to go outside and just walk around and sniff the air.  I really wish he could see where he is, and see that people do care about him, and are smiling at him when he is being petted.  We do all we can to try and tell him that we care and not to be afraid.  No one is going to ever hurt him, or lock him in a cage again.  He's got plenty of food and fresh water, and he doesn't have to eat off the floor.  We give him fresh soup bones, and stuff peanut butter in the empty spaces.  The only thing he lacks is a family to love him.  He will certainly be worth the extra effort that it may take for his care, and return it with double the amount of love.  He needs that special someone in his life.

1/10/02 - Yancy is an absolute charmer.  He loves to run in the yard (on a long lead) and just loves to be petted and talked to.  He is so responsive to the human touch and affection.  He just bowled me over while he was here.   He was very affectionate and playful.

Even though Yancy is blind, there is no reason he cannot lead a full life with the right family.
We had one accident in the house.  I was putting by boots and gloves on and I guess Yancy could not hold it any longer and wet on the floor.  I watched him closely during the day and took him outside about every two hours.  I was trying to come up with something to train him to go to the door but we did not get that far.  Yancy is so intelligent, I think he would learn something quickly.  Yancy followed me around the house and learned the paths very quickly.  He was not bumping into anything in the house.  The yard with trees still had to be mastered but he knew the steps into the house as well as the doorways.

Yancy deserves a truly loving home where someone can enjoy him and Yancy can enjoy his new family.  If I did not have a dog currently, he would be here with me.

12/30/01 - Yancy was just taken from a kennel where we had him neutered and given all of his medical care. He has all of his shots and has been moved into a home with a 3yr old male boxer.  These words from his foster Mom:

"Well, Yancy is as sweet as can be to us.  He loves to play in the snow and then sleep at our feet.  He really is a sweetheart with a great personality.  He has his own mattress that he loves to curl on.  He constantly reaches for my hand to get a pat.  He follows my voice and follows me around the house.  I walk around slowly and talk to him and he follows my voice.  He hardly bumps into anything once he has walked the path.  No accidents in the house.  I take him outside every couple hours for bathroom and exercise.  He is doing well.  We are still working on him and (our resident dog), though.  While he is better today, we still keep him on a leash even when he is in the house just to control him around (the other dog).  I am amazed at the great personality he has after what he has gone through."

12/18/01 - Yancy is a fawn 3yr old male boxer taken from the horror house in NJ. He is a bit shy but wants so badly to come out of his kennel; he just doesn't know how. He and his brothers and sisters had to be carried out and around since they don't know what it means to walk around. They are learning. Yancy is as sweet as can be. Please help Yancy.  He will have a local vet take a look at him ASAP. He is young, and we hope he will forget about his life and enjoy his new freedom. Please give him a home for the holidays.
