would love for you to meet our resident love sponge....Yogi! A stray who wound up in the shelter system, poor Yogi was so
upset over being shut away from people that all he could do was to fret his
weight off! When we took him in,
he was rather skinny but so thrilled to be around people once again that he
started to thrive immediately! He
was a little beside himself at first...overflowing with enthusiasm, wanting
every toy in the house, pulling on the leash en route to every new adventure
(hey...he’s a Boxer!!!)...but he settled down in no time, putting the weight
back on and finding his more polite self!
As you can see, he is a big smiler who knows how to “ham it up” for
the camera...a typically charming Boxer!
Yogi is approximately three years old and
has intense, deep brindle coloration, with white thrown in for flash. He has a classic and impressive Boxer head, and in structure
he shows both strength and elegance. People
are the center of his universe and he adores being with them and interacting
with them. He is living nicely
with his female Boxer roommate, but he would do just as well as a single dog
in your home. Certainly, he
can more than fill a home
with all his character, charm, and sweetness!
Yogi is neutered, current on all his shots, and on heartworm
preventative.
Are you the right home for Yogi? Because he was a stray, we cannot place him with children
under ten years of age. Yogi
would do best with someone who wants to have a close and bonded relationship
with a dog; one who can appreciate character and charm, and, certainly, one
who believes that dogs are for loving! He
tolerates crating and does okay for himself, but, of course, when away from
people he is never entirely happy! A
fenced yard would be ideal for him, for he loves to frolic (particularly if
you will frolic with him!) Obedience
class would put the finishing touches on his training and help to establish
good communication in the relationship, although Yogi does know his commands.
7/7/01 - Yogi is adjusting quite well in his foster home. He is getting much better on leash, is OK in the crate, but definitely prefers to be around people. He is a love bug. Yogi is coming out of his shell and is beginning to play with the female boxer in his foster home. Yogi has been neutered and is ready for his forever home. As his foster mom states "Whoever adopts this guy will be very happy"!! :)
06/28/01 - This is Yogi! He is a handsome brindle boy who is approximately 3 years old. Yogi was found as a stray and taken to a shelter who contacted us for help. We took Yogi to the vet, brought him up to date on shots, trimmed his nails and gave him a HW test (which was negative). He is scheduled to be neutered next week and will be available for adoption at that time. Since Yogi was found as a stray he can not be placed in a home with children under the age of 10 years old. He would love to have a fenced in yard to run in as he needs some leash work. Yogi knows "sit", "down" and "no". He would certainly benefit from some additional obedience training. Yogi is doing well with his foster sister but does not always like to share his toys. He only weighs 50 lbs right now but he will be fed several meals per day to help him gain some much needed weight.
