"
Zeus"
Zeus is housebroken, and able to hold it for long periods of time, if necessary. When we do take him out, he pulls frantically at the leash, and is quite strong, but he's just desperate to get to the toilet ASAP. On the return trip, he's actually not so bad. He doesn't "heel", but he does allow some slack in his leash. I was walking him 2-3 times a day, but now I am taking him out more often to see if we can remedy the urgency problem--at least 7 times a day. I've noticed a slight improvement today. He loves the outdoors and loves to run and play with dogs or humans, so I think maybe he'd do best in a home with a large, fenced yard, and perhaps a dog or older children who could keep up with him. I will continue to work with him on the heeling for as long as he's here. I feel bad because I want to run and play with him, but my elbow is still in a brace and very weak and I still have to favor it.
Although he is full of energy outdoors, he's a veritable couch potato indoors! He will only get on furniture if invited, which is always the case here, but he's just as content to lie on the floor in front of the TV.
I leave the door open to the crate, and he's stuck his nose in there to sniff around a little bit, but you can tell he's leery of it. I can work on crate training if necessary, but I wanted him to get used to having it there and realize it's not a threat to him before I try putting him in it. He rides well in the car, and he whines whenever his Foster Dad leaves. I left him alone for about 2 hrs. today, and he didn't get into any trouble.
Zeus is a very sweet, mellow dog all in all, and will bring many years of joy to his family.
